Advice before Ramadan | Shaykh Ibn Baz

Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Aziz ibn Baz:
The last thing to say in this meeting is the oft repeated advice: ask Allah to allow every Muslim to reach this noble month. One should ask his Lord to allow him to reach it and aid him upon fasting during its days and praying during its night with îmân (faith) and hoping for its reward. [He should do this] for how many people do not reach it even if there is only a short time until it enters?! So, my advice for every believing man and woman is that they implore Allah and make du’ä to him, with truthfulness and sincerity, that He allows them to reach this noble month and aids them upon fasting during its days and praying during its night with îmãn (faith) and hoping for its reward.
Also, I advise with repentance and to renew one’s repentance before this noble month enters so that the month of Ramadan enters upon you while you are safe from your sins and Allah has wiped them away from you due to your sincere repentance.
Furthermore, I advise with having truthful determination that you will be upright in Ramadan and far away from everything Allah has prohibited.
Likewise, the believer should be determined, with firm resolve, that he will strive hard in Ramadan and protect his limbs from that which Allah has prohibited. In addition, he should be determined to increase in good during its nights and days.
Moreover, he should be determined not to return to sins after Ramadan. Rather, he should intend to continue upon good in Ramadan and other than it for, indeed, he does not know when his appointed time (i.e. death) will spring upon him. As a result, he should intend good and to do righteous actions; perhaps he will be guided and, thus, be upright up until the appointed time comes upon him.
May Allah guide and give success to everyone and may He allow all the Muslims everywhere to fast during the days and pray during the nights of this tremendous month. May He bless them in it with faith, hoping for reward, truthfulness, sincerity and rushing forth to do good.
May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and companions.
