Women Going Out to the Eid Prayer

Al-Lajnah al-Daimah (the Permanent Committee of Scholars):

“Women coming out to the two Eid prayers is a stressed Sunnah, however, with the condition that they go out to it covered without tabarruj.”

[Fatawa al-Lajnah al-Daimah (8/287)]

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin (rahimahullah):

“I hold the view that women should be commanded with going out to the Eid Musalla in order for them to witness good and join the Muslims in their prayers and supplications. However, they must go out to it without tabarruj nor perfumed so that they may join between performing the Sunnah and avoiding fitnah.”

[Majmu’ al-Fatawa (6/211)]

Note: Shaykh Abdul-Aziz ibn Baz (rahimahullah) said:

“Tabarruj is to display beauty and that which causes fitnah like a woman displaying her hair, face, neck, and the jewellery on her ears and neck. All of this is called tabarruj.”
