Reading Qur’ān from the Muṣḥaf or Phone — Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jabiri
‘Abdullāh ibn Mas‘ūd (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrated that Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ said:
من سره أن يحب الله ورسوله فليقرأ في المصحف
“Whoever wants to love Allāh and His Messenger then let him read from the muṣḥaf.”
(al-Sahihah of al-Albani no. 2342)
Shaykh ‘Ubayd al-Jābirī (rahimahullah):
“If there are maṣāḥif (copies of the Qur’ān) in the Masjid it is not befitting to recite from the phone. I dislike that because carrying and looking into the muṣḥaf is an act of worship and the phone is not like this and what may result from that is the boycotting of the maṣāḥīf and abstaining from it.”
