Never Feel Safe of Falling into Shirk — Shaykh Muhammad Amān al-Jāmī

Allāh, the Most High, said:

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ هَٰذَا الْبَلَدَ آمِنًا وَاجْنُبْنِي وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ الْأَصْنَامَ

“And [remember] when Ibrāhīm said: ‘My Lord, make this city (Makkah) secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.’” [Sūrah Ibrāhīm 14:35]

Shaykh Muhammad Amān al-Jāmī (rahimahullah): We must strive in teaching tawḥīd to our youth and making the correct belief (‘aqīdah) firm in their hearts. This is important because we live in a time of temptation, desires and hardship. Never think that you are safe from falling into major shirk (associating partners with Allāh) — never think that. Rather, you must fear committing shirk just as Prophet Ibrāhīm (‘alayhis-salām) feared it. You must call upon Allāh and ask him to save you from falling into shirk.
